Overview

I initiated a redesign of Zealous Explore to make it easier to discover creative opportunities, projects, organisations and talent. I led the product design from identifying problems in the existing experience through to responsive designs for different devices and content types.
Internally and externally, this function was flagging some problems because the latest time it was developed it was focused just in solving smaller problems instead of covering all users needs and redefining the whole tool.

Problem

Explore had grown beyond its original browsing experience. Its dark, dense interface made content harder to scan, while search and filtering offered limited ways to narrow down results.
Different types of content also needed different information to be useful at a glance. I saw an opportunity to make discovery clearer, more accessible and more relevant to what each visitor was looking for.

Process

I reviewed the existing Explore experience and mapped the friction in its navigation, search, filters and results. I then redesigned the page around distinct sections for opportunities, projects, organisations and creative talent, with filters tailored to each type of content.
To help people compare results quickly, I explored three card layouts for different kinds of information and imagery. I also designed responsive versions across desktop, tablet and mobile, refining the visual hierarchy, spacing and contrast throughout.

Outcome

The redesign brought opportunities, projects, organisations and creative talent into a clearer, more consistent discovery experience. Tailored cards surfaced the information people needed to compare results at a glance, without opening every page individually. Search and content-specific filters helped creatives, organisations and the Zealous team find relevant content more quickly across the platform.
Responsive layouts made that experience work across devices, while the new structure gave Zealous a more flexible way to showcase its growing creative community.
